2025 — Hospitality
Riad
Identity and art direction for a boutique hospitality house — a brand world built on craft, pattern and a genuinely warm welcome.
Overview
Maison Riad is a twelve-room hospitality house split between a restored townhouse and a working studio for visiting craftspeople. The owners needed an identity that felt established on opening day — rooted, generous and quietly confident rather than boutique-anonymous.
The studio built the brand from the building outward: a wordmark cut like carved plaster, a pattern library drawn from the house's own tilework, and a palette of clay, ink and sun-bleached linen.
Approach
Every guest touchpoint was art-directed as part of one continuous welcome — from the courtyard signage and room keys to the breakfast menu, staff aprons and the small printed guide to the neighbourhood the team writes by hand each season. Photography direction favoured late-afternoon light, real guests and unmade beds over styled perfection.
The identity guidelines were written for the people who run the house, not for designers — plain language, photographed examples, and room to improvise.
